"In 2002 I made the choice to become a “Rock Climber”. Since then I have dedicated my life to this vertical game, quickly working my way up to the highest level in NZ.
I am known as the best female rock-climber in New Zealand and am currently ranked within the top few women climbers in the world.
In recent years, I have spent most of my time living on the road in Europe where there are more opportunities to challenge myself and further my climbing skills.
At the moment I am training for a trip to Yosemite, California in 2009, where I intend to take my climbing to the next level. I will attempt to free climb a 1000m high wall with very high level of technical difficulty.
If I succeed it will be the first free female ascent of this 43-pitch route on El Capitan (the most famous rock face in the world!). For a Kiwi woman to claim this achievement would be ground breaking, both within New Zealand and internationally. I intend to fill my haul-bag with EPC’s and bars, as I believe they will be a vital component in achieving my goal!
I like to always have an Em’s Power Cookie (at least one) in my pack while I am out climbing. EPC’s are a great tasty snack, which seem to have the perfect combination of quick sugars and low GI energy to keep me performing at my highest level! I do not like to eat a large meal before, or during my climbing sessions, as it makes me feel “heavy”, but therefore I often end up with low energy levels. EPC’s have helped me with this as they are light, tasty and nutritious.
In addition to loving her cookies, I find Em an inspiring person. She does an amazing job of excelling in both, her business and her sport (not an easy task). She shares my passion for life and has a great approach to her business."
